AUDIENCE GRANTED TO DR. CALEB FUNDANGA, SPECIAL ENVOY OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA

On Friday, March 21, 2025, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in Charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, H.E. Felix MBAYU, granted audience to Dr. Caleb FUNDANGA, Special Envoy of H.E. HAKANDE HICHILEMA, President of the Republic of Zambia.
This visit was part of the Zambian diplomatic campaign for the candidacy of Dr. Samuel MAIMBO for the position of President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), and whose elections are scheduled to take place in Abidjan from May 26 to 30, 2025, on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the Board of Governors of this pan-African institution.

Mr. FUNDANGA explained the reasons for his visit, making a brief presentation of the advantages of the Zambian bid. He said that Dr. MAIMBO, equally attending the audience, had particularly distinguished himself in terms of resource mobilization in the context of projects, a skill that Africa needed more than ever even though it is, under the heading of pursuing the objectives of the African Union's Agenda 2063, invested in a campaign to develop its infrastructure.

The Zambian candidate outlined his vision and the reasons for his candidacy for the position of President of the AfDB. He said that when it comes to financing major continental infrastructure projects, Africans should find African solutions to African problems.

Minister Delegate Félix MBAYU while thanking his host for the visit, said it was important for African States to think about innovative solutions for the financing of continental projects. He also recalled our country's commitment to consultation among African States and to the search for consensus around a visionary leadership for the AfDB, capable of carrying high the aspirations of our continent.
